How to Raise your Vibration when in a Funk
There are days when I wake up in a foul mood, feeling stuck, sluggish or even completely down. Sounds familiar? Well, first of all, let’s face it, we rarely walk around in a steady blissed-out state all the time. We, humans, are complex beings who, at different times in our life, experience highs and lows across a wide range of emotions.
Though it’s important to acknowledge these uncomfortable emotions when they arise rather than sweep them under the carpet, you don’t want them to consume your day. There are simple things you can do to help you navigate through a bad mood and find your way out of the murky waters.
Face your feelings
First things first, face your feelings. Behind these unpleasant emotions often hide important messages that are trying to catch your attention. Observe how you feel without judging. Keeping a journal is a great way to get all these emotions out of your system. Let the words pour out of you and don’t hold back. Write until you feel you have got it all out. You may be surprised at what is revealed once you start putting pen to paper.
Ground your energy
Being upset can lead us to feel ungrounded. Negative thoughts racing through our mind and heavy emotions have a tendency to make our energy body gravitate out of our physical self. Our mind is all over the place and we feel disconnected from our physical body because all the focus is on our emotions and thoughts. Take a few minutes to calm down and ground your energy. Sit comfortably on a chair and breathe calmly and deeply. Visualize roots growing from your feet and connecting you all the way down to the centre of the Earth. Hold that visualization as long as you need. Other ways to ground yourself include: going for a walk, eating, walking barefoot on the grass, exercising, etc.
Clear your space to invite positive energy into your home
Clearing dense, unwanted energy from your space can help when you’re not in a good place. When we’re feeling out of sorts, our own repetitive negative thoughts start having a life of their own and can turn into negative thought-forms that linger in our environment and bring the vibration down. Open the windows, burn sage, palo santo or incense, use singing bowls, all with the intention to cleanse your home from any vibrations that are not aligned with your highest self. That way you’re getting rid of these negative energies that are holding you down and you’ll keep the positive vibes flowing throughout your home.
Cleanse your aura
Give your aura a little detox by smudging yourself with sage or palo santo. Take a shower or relax in a salt bath (use unrefined salt such as himalayan, epsom or dead sea salts). Comb your aura with a purifying crystal such as a selenite wand, clear quartz or kyanite. This will help remove any stagnant and unwanted energy clogging your energy field. You may really feel your energy beginning to shift within minutes. Then visualize you are surrounding yourself with a bubble of white golden light to replenish your energy, strengthen your aura and infuse it with light.
Make yourself up to help lift your mood
Wear clothes that make you feel great. For the ladies, put on some makeup or jewellery you love. Apply a dash of red lipstick, wear your favourite necklace, put on those new shoes you just bought…whatever you like! Just don’t stay in your PJs all day with “all by myself” playing in the background. Make yourself up in a way that naturally enhances the amazing you and makes you feel like you can take on the world!
Avoid toxic situations and people who are draining
Stay away from drama of all kinds. The last thing you need on a day like this is getting involved in petty arguments and unnecessary drama. Equally, steer clear from those who drain your energy, bring you down and are always negative. Send them love and be compassionate, but keep your distance (at least for today!).
Count your blessings and acknowledge the beauty all round. List 5 things you are grateful for before going to bed. There’s always something to be grateful for. Whether it’s those 20 minutes you had this morning to enjoy your cup of coffee in silence before the kids wake up, that fantastic best friend who’s always there for you, or that stunning sunset…don’t be grumpy and recognize the blessings in your life. The more grateful you are, the more blessings the universe will send you.

Did you know the books you’re pulled to carry powerful messages for you? Books are treasures of wisdom. They also hold amazing healing powers. There is nothing like a great novel to comfort and uplift you. The universe has a way of sending us signs and guidance when we need it the most, and sometimes, these are hidden in the magical pages of a book.
Carry a lepidolite crystal
With its peaceful lavender blue colour, lepidolite dissipates negativity and induces calm. It helps you come back to the present moment and to a place of inner quiet. Carry a piece in your pocket, sleep with it under your pillow, or wear it as jewellery. Lepidolite naturally contains lithium and helps stabilize emotions.
Raise your vibration with music
Listening to music that lifts you is such a great way to turn around a bad mood. It can also help you release emotions that are contributing to your discomfort. Whether your thing is Mozart, Ariana Grande, Metallica or Cesaria Evora…who cares! Whatever works for you. You could also listen to high vibrational music, which is great to raise your vibration and that of your environment (check out the solfeggio frequencies for example! you’ll find many on Youtube).
Drink crystal-infused water
Programme a clear quartz crystal with the intention to cleanse your aura throughout the day, clear your mind from negative thoughts and raise your vibration. Place it in a jug filled with filtered water and leave it in the sun for a little while to charge it with your intention and infuse it with positive vibes. Drink your homemade gem elixir throughout the day (make sure you don’t swallow the crystal!) and let it cleanse and bring you back into alignment.
